Meet the Team

Our wonderful team of staff are without a doubt our greatest strength. They are what makes our nursery so special.

All our staff are dedicated professionals, who are committed to the education, well-being and development of all the children in our care. You can rest assured that your children are in the safest of hands with our kind, caring and nurturing team.

Ellis – nursery manager

Ellis has more than 11 years experience working with children under five years old, and has been an integral part of the team at High Legh Pre-School Nursery since June 2018. She has a BA Hons in Early Years Leadership and Management.

When she’s not at work, she like spending time with her friends and families, going out for walks and discovering new places to eat. She loves to travel and her favourite country is America, but she’s happy anywhere if the sun is shining.

Fun Fact: Ellis is a big Everton fan and loves watching them play.

Sarah – Deputy Manager

Sarah lives in Winnington village with her fiancé, her two children, and their cat Muffin. 

She has over 20 years experience in Early Years and a Foundation Degree in Early Years and Education.

Fun Fact: Sarah loves animals and can be found at Chester Zoo most weekends but has a fear of spiders.

Vicky – Room LeadEr for toddler room

Vicky joined the High Legh Pre-School Nursery Team in 2018, but has been a familiar face for much longer, as all of her children have attended our nursery.

She has completed her Level Three in Children’s Care Learning and Development and now is in charge of our Toddler Room.

Fun Fact: Vicky has got some moves and loves a bit of Zumba.

Michelle – third in charge and SENCO

Michelle has more than 25 years experience working with children and has a BA Hons Degree in early years. 

In her free time, she likes to go to the theatre with her daughter and she enjoys walking her two dogs, Alfie and Bruno with her son and partner

She previously worked as a childminder for the past 10 years before getting back to nursery working. 

Fun Fact: She is a massive Steps fan and knows many of the dance routines to their songs. 

Lorna – Senior nursery practitioner

Lorna has more than 18 years experience as an EYFS primary school teacher. 

She has three children who occupy most of her time and when she does get some free time she loves to cycle, read and bake. 

Lorna also gives up her time to volunteer for St Roccos Hospice.

Fun Fact: Lorna was born in Hong Kong as her dad was part of the British Army and was stationed there.

 

Sarah – nursery assistant

Sarah is a High Legh local, having lived in the village for 47 years.

She has two children, aged 27 and 13, and in her spare time she loves baking, and will often bring in yummy treats for the staff.

Fun Fact: Sarah previously worked at Manchester United for 15 years.

 

Laura – nursery practitioner

Laura is Level 2 qualified and has over 10 years experience working with children.

In her spare time, she’s got four children and her husband to keep her busy, and she enjoys going on walks with her dog ‘Lady’.

Fun Fact: Laura has a massive phobia of scorpions.

 

Lauren – nursery practitioner

 Lauren lives locally in Lymm and is a mum herself to a little boy. 

In her spare time she enjoys days out with her family and friends and going on long walks with her dog. 

Lauren is Level 3 qualified and has worked in childcare for several years. She is be mainly based in the toddler room.

Fun Fact: Lauren is obsessed with make-up and is a fully qualified beautician 

 

Steph – Baby Room Leader

Steph lives in Barnton in Northwich with her husband and two daughters – Lexie and Skylar.

In her free time she enjoys days out with her family and loves the zoo. 

Steph started out as our apprentice, and has now completed her Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education.

Fun Fact: Steph has a weird fear of baked beans!

Catherine – Bank Staff

Catherine joined us in 2021 and has more than 30 years childcare experience – first as a BTEC Nursery Nurse then later on she gained a degree in early years education.

She has worked as a childminder for the past 10 years before getting back into nursery working and is now part of our bank staff team.

Fun Fact: She got married wearing white Doc Martin boots hidden under her wedding dress. 

Katie – Nursery chef

Katie has more than 25 years experience in the catering industry and has worked in many roles including as a head chef and business advisor. 

The bistro that she ran was voted No 1 on trip advisor for many years.

Katie lives with her fiancé in Warrington and has two black cats called Dextor and Margo.  She enjoys discovering new places to eat, sampling cocktails and going to the cinema

Fun Fact: Katie knew she wanted to be a chef from a young age from cooking with her grandma and making mud pies in the garden.
