Our wonderful team of staff are without a doubt our greatest strength. They are what makes our nursery so special.
All our staff are dedicated professionals, who are committed to the education, well-being and development of all the children in our care. You can rest assured that your children are in the safest of hands with our kind, caring and nurturing team.
Ellis – nursery manager (currently on maternity leave)
Ellis has more than 11 years experience working with children under five years old, and has been an integral part of the team at High Legh Pre-School Nursery since June 2018. She has a BA Hons in Early Years Leadership and Management.
When she’s not at work she like spending time with her friends and families, going out for walks and discovering new places to eat. She loves to travel and her favourite country is America, but she’s happy anywhere if the sun is shining.
Fun Fact: Ellis is a big Everton fan and loves watching them play.
Leah – Deputy manager
Leah joined the team in August 2020 and is our Deputy Manager. She’s Level Three qualified having worked with children for more than eight years.
Leah specialises in care of babies and is a key member of our Baby Room Team, but she also works across the nursery. She is also mum to a young baby herself, so has plenty of experience.
Fun Fact: Leah lived in Spain for a few years and in her spare time loves crafting.
Vicky – Baby Room Lead
Vicky joined the High Legh Pre-School Nursery Team in 2018, but has been a familiar face for much longer, as all of her children have attended our nursery. She has completed her Level Three in Children’s Care Learning and Development and now is in charge of our Baby Room.
Fun Fact: Vicky has got some moves and loves a bit of Zumba.
Lauren – nursery practitioner
Lauren lives locally in Knutsford and is a mum-of-two to Aaron, aged 13, and Kyra, aged 10.
She has 17 years childcare experience and is very enthusiastic about the Curiosity Approach ethos. In her spare time she likes to be outdoors and loves to go on family days out. She also has a passion for music.
Fun Fact: Lauren’s daughter is a huge Ariana Grande fan, and secretly so is Lauren!
Kate – nursery practitioner
Kate is a biology graduate who also holds qualified teacher status, as she has done her PGCE in primary education.
She is currently training to be a Rainbows leader and she also has three years of Early Years experience.
She is a Mum herself and has two little girls.
Fun Fact: Kate has a love of all things to do with science and nature and she used to run Mini Professor classes for pre-schoolers.
Sam – nursery practitioner
Sam joined us in 2021 and has worked in childcare for the past four years gaining her L3 qualification.
She is also a mum herself to Joshua, aged 4 1/2.
Sam has a passion for early years education and development, especially outdoor and nature based.
Sam has recently completed the ‘Hygge In The Early Years’ accreditation.
Fun Fact: Sam used to be cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and has also worked for the BBC and ITV
Catherine – nursery practitioner
Catherine joined us in 2021 and has more than 30 years childcare experience – first as a BTEC Nursery Nurse then later on she gained a degree in early years education.
She has worked as a childminder for the past 10 years and is currently transitioning back to nursery working.
Fun Fact: She got married wearing white Doc Martin boots hidden under her wedding dress.
Lorna – nursery practitioner
Lorna has 18 years experience as an EYFS primary school teacher. She also has three children who occupy most of her time, but when she does get some free time she loves to cycle, read and bake.
Lorna also gives up her time to volunteer for St Roccos Hospice.
Fun Fact: Lorna was born in Hong Kong as her dad was part of the British Army and was stationed there.
Steph – apprentice
Steph lives in Barnton in Northwich with her fiancé and two daughters – Lexie, aged 12 and Skylar who is 10 months.
In her free time she enjoys days out with her family and loves the zoo.
Steph is our apprentice, so she is currently studying towards her Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. In the future she would like to learn more about 1:1 teaching with children who have additional needs.
Fun Fact: Steph has a weird fear of baked beans!
Jen – Nursery administrator
Jen joined the team in September 2019 and can usually be found in our little office in the car park, so feel free to pop in and say hello. She also helps out in pre-school when we need her and is Level Three qualified in Early Learning and Childcare.
When we let her out of the office, she likes shopping, going to the theatre, concerts and cinema, and spending time with her friends and family. She has a daughter and likes to relax by walking the dog, reading and watching TV.
Fun Fact: Jen is a massive Take That fan and wants to be the next Mrs Gary Barlow.
